OCI protects the client!
Current popular belief is that RFID is the solution to every problem. Vendors will try to convince you to implement RFID, regardless of your operational requirements. At OCI, we have the technical knowledge coupled with the operational expertise, that allow us to confidently make recommendations as to the most suitable RFID technology for your operations, one that will inspire a positive Return on Investment (ROI). OCI is an independent consulting company and accepts no fees or commissions from vendors. OCI’s interest is the client’s interest. If OCI recommends RFID for your needs, the following Four Phase Approach will help determine the particulars:

OCI’s Four Phase Approach

4 Phase Approach

Phase I

  • Develop the Baseline Measures for the client to fully understand the current condition
  • Collect current operation:
    • procedures
    • material flow
    • information flow and
    • process flow diagrams
  • Collect operational requirements for the new technology:
    • expected working conditions
    • metal presence
    • temperature range
    • humidity
    • interacting software
    • visibility requirements

Phase II

  • Define new operating procedures.
  • Define the detailed operational requirements, including:
    • Readability range
    • Amount of information per tag
    • Desired size
  • Put together a Request for Proposal (RFP) with the baseline operational requirements
  • Send the RFP to a variety of vendors for each of the equipment and software requirements

Phase III

Perform RFP Analysis and Vendor Evaluation. OCI is an independent consulting company and accepts no fees or commissions from vendors. OCI’s interest is the client’s interest. Vendors are selected for each area according to OCI’s score methodology. This will protect the client’s interest, and not the interest of the vendor.

Phase IV

  • Perform hands-on project management for the implementation
  • Perform thorough testing of tags on different conditions and surfaces
  • Study reliability statistically
  • Evaluate the technical performance of tags to satisfy the operational requirements
  • Assist hardware installation
  • Assist systems integration
    • RFID information is very important in ERP and WMS systems
    • Provide increased visibility
    • Provide informed decisions within the organization
  • Perform operator training
    • Changes in the Standard Operating Procedures
    • Explain technology
    • Explain the impact of each action
    • Promote a smooth and successful transition
